We are fortunate to have a local expert cooking in our showroom on a monthly basis. Clara Nicholl is a mum of two from local countryside town Haydon Bridge. She is a professional chef, catering for all sorts of events from weddings and christenings to private homes and retreats. Clara is also a passionate foodie, with a keen interest in fuelling the body with nutrition and flavour.

Each monthly event aims to provide a different focus, from dinner parties to every day staples. Clara brings her own customers and hosts fun interactive evenings, which include cooking and tasting the food. Clara told us "I'm hugely passionate about food, health and people believing they can cook too! Enjoying food and enjoying eating isn't about graduating with honours from cooking school - It shouldn't be a performance art! The answer is to cook in a way that doesn't involve a huge amount of effort or time! I am delighted to be hosting a monthly cooking class at InHouse, Hexham. The beautiful working kitchens allow for the perfect relaxed cooking school experience and at each event I will be changing the style and menu. Anything I can do, you can do too!"

We are delighted to provide a venue for such events - for us it's about connecting with Northumberland, building relationships and providing an experience centre for our local community. We have had such a great response with local business’, organisations and individuals who need a space to enhance their own offerings. We don’t charge for venue hire and we often supply goodie bags for each guest as a token of thanks for coming to our showroom. Our team love it too, offering a helpful hand during events and meeting the local community.

Creative recipes and scrumptious, simple meals to suit every household - food you can cook on those days when you just have to hit the kitchen running.

"As a busy mum juggling two older children and sports club/school runs, my job and endless animals from dogs to horses, I understand the demand we are often under to provide quick and tasty tea's, also packed full of goodness for growing children and tired parents! The 5 recipes I've put together for this event will hopefully provide some inspiration for new every day staples, whilst keeping in your weekly budget and using ingredients you'll probably have in your kitchen cupboards already."

Clara Nicholl Catering wow's guest with a "How to cook a foolproof dinner party" demonstration

PREVIOUS EVENT: Foolproof Dinner Party

18 ladies and 2 gentleman joined Clara at her first cooking demonstration on 23rd July. Each guest was given a complimentary glass of wine to exlor the showroom and enjoy a social start with friends. Guests were seated, then Clara began cooking, sharing endless top tips and expert ideas to re-create at home. Recipe cards were provided, with space to take notes and the audience thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the cooking process, some of whom joined Clara in the kitchen. All guests enjoyed a starter, main and dessert during the demonstration and learnt new skills to take home! 

We have three beautiful working kitchens in our Hexham Showroom. The Schuller Vienna kitchen was Clara’s choice as it features Miele smart appliances. “They’re affordable and easy to use, which is key for my guests. There are so many useful little settings on the ovens and hob, such as warming hobs for keeping melted chocolate or sauces at a ready to use temperature, whilst finishing other elements of the meal. Plus the downdraft extractor in the Miele hob is brilliant for this kind of occasion, as it keeps smells and smoke to a minimum. It’s very clever.”

We were treated to a delicious three course menu:

Seared Sirloin Strips , Café De Paris Stak Butter, Crispy Potatoes & Crunchy Salad

No bake chocolate tart with crunchy biscuit bottom
